Tortilla de Patatas and Shrimp Ceviche

Got experimental tonight and tried a couple of new recipes.

We have a foreign exchange student staying with us from Spain for this month. She’s been here for two and a half weeks, and I figured that she probably is missing a few things, so I stumbled upon a recipe for a Spanish tortilla, which is very different than a Mexican corn or flour tortilla (and much better).

There also has been a recipe going around for shrimp salsa, which is identical to the recipe for shrimp ceviche that is very popular here in California, except for the shrimp actually gets cooked over heat rather than marinated in lime juice for a while. Together with a bowl of grapes, they made a nice Summer dinner.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures, but here are the links:

Bon Appetit’s Spanish Tortilla

Natasha’s Kitchen Shrimp Salsa (cooked ceviche)

I highly recommend both!
